luna park and other odditys

hey all,
well i have been on a fantastic holiday and also started the new job at LV.. very exciting and it feels great to be learning so much already!
As I wont be designing windows as much anymore, i will have to put up other stuff.. i'm thinking photos of other great windows i see, other art i'm doing and of course the thursday inspiration.. and the new LV windows as they are installed!
I hope it will still be a nice ride..
so to start us off, here is a pic from Luna Park at night..sometimes its good to work late!

Parting is such sweet sorrow...

oh so i have been absent again..

its hard to keep up with the blogs at the moment especially since we have been on sale and as such nothing interesting has been happening in the Belinda/cornershop VM world..
having said that i guess now is as good a time as any to share that i have decided to leave Belinda and take a position at Louis Vuitton.

Not sure what its going to be like, but i wont be designing windows which is a bit strange.. but that doesn't mean i wont be doing other types of VM stuff, and its one of the main reasons i chose to change...to learn lots of new stuff, from a fantatsic company, rather than just continue doing my own thing:)

oh and also to be able to regain control of my arty-ness, and get to choose which projects i will be working on.. how good is that! (not that i havent relished all the windows at belinda:) we love:))

so for now, here is the sunrise i caught the other morning.. and heres to evolving..

MLC paint by numbers - FINISHED!

Well finally its done:) yay! it was actually alot more work than i had considered, probably because i was using a 1 inch wide brush.. ha!
all in all i am very happy with it!

ah so sick... so i'm sorry but no new windows for the moment:( boo to the flu..

Fashion Week Corner Shops

I went in a more fun direction for the corner shops for fashion week (as always). To show our support for young australian designers i wanted to showcase how many we actually stock instore..
So we jokingly held a 'miss corner shop 2009' competition with our mannequins.. this was a lot of fun to make and put in, all the way from the kitschy signage to the fake mascara running down the face of our winner:)

Fashion Week Double Bay

Here is our fashion week display in Double Bay..
This window celebrates the buyers detailed driven vision. Its about how they bring all sorts of labels together in our stores (and on our mannequins) styling a woman head to toe from a multitude of designers, by buying with a cohesive vision.

busy busy again with the onset of fashion week in sydney:)
Our windows this year were all about the buying journey Belinda and the buyers go through. They celebrate the hours of selection and the stylistic vision of the designer's collections and the customer experience of all this instore.

First up is our MLC store - these WONDERFUL drawings were done by Deborah Pak in white chalk on the black chalkboard walls.. celebrating the looks of Dries Van Noten, Givenchy, Ann Demeulemeester and Bottega Veneta.

Barbie and the Rockers rounds up the 50th Anniversary collection and also the Belinda/Barbie windows.
Our supremely talented Marketing and PR assistant Rohan hand made this Barbie scale model of our William st Terrace Belinda store. A big thank you also goes out to Jason for his 'rockers' Dee Dee and Dana.. girls this flash couldn't possibly go shopping on their own! xx

We now turn to the heat up and head north to brisbane where 1971 Malibu Beach Barbie enjoys a 'drumstick' style pool moment:) ah the fake tan, fluro perspex and the astroturf was so much fun to use as inspiration! xx

1969 Twist and turn Barbie celebrates the evolution of Barbie so she could move to face left and right.. We set up the Belinda GPO window in a 'yellow submarine' style landscape for the installation.
My greatest Thanks to The vespa wizard (www.thevespawizard.com.au) for loaning us his immaculately restored 70's lambretta!

well over the last few weeks i have been working on the official Mattel 50th Anniversary of Barbie windows in our Belinda windows.. it has been a long run, and a big part of why i haven't been blogging.. however it has also been a great experience as the windows have had heaps of press and had me doing stuff i haven't yet done:) yay!

so for the next few days i'm going to put up the pics of the windows..
