christmas at the MLC belinda store

Branded like our gift packaging, this was an inexpensive and elegant way to do our MLC windows for christmas..
i was also at the end of my energy and inspiration, so i needed to change from the proposed Klimt inspired design and create something that would still retain its class... i know its not an innovative idea, but i think it is well executed and sometimes, that is just as nice:)

stained glass christmas at Double Bay 2

Ah.. 'the three wise women rejoice in miu miu, stella and Marni'
stain glass joys in Double bay Belinda.

The first image is before i hand painted the colours.. big props to Eric , our signwriter for working on the vinyl elements with me:) <3

then i painted the colours... on the inside or back of the stained glass panel..

the effect , as viewed from inside..

the street view..(eventually, we had a sign with the title made up, for the top of the window)

the effect close up, from the entrance to the store..

stained glass christmas at Double Bay

Stain glass was the inspiration for this years Christmas windows. It was a project that was influenced heavily by the stain glass ideals of hand worked but very graphic elements, and the look of modern stain glass panels.
Whilst at the corner shop window (see below posts) i used perspex to create fields of colour and light within the window.. at Belinda we were more literal with giant sheets of clear acrylic hanging to create stain glass window pains within the window.

Originally the idea was to paint directly onto the glass and turn our store fronts into stain glass windows, however budget and time constraints meant i had to use the perspex sheets and bring the 'stained glass' inside for most of our displays.. except this one... Due to the architecture of the window, we were able to paint directly onto the glass, and for that, this is my favourite of all of them.. it is installed as it was designed:)
Yay! small victories but good ones:)

xmas at the corner shop paddington

Today i did our xmas display in the corner shop paddington. The idea was a collaboration between simone and myself. i think it has a lovely feeling; modern, young and arty, but still very functional, feminine and all importantly, festive!
merry christmas

moments in the strand

an isabel marant moment in the corner strand..

Wednesday, November 19, 2008

Well i know i have been away for AGES, and im sorry but as i loose assistants left right and centre (BOO financial crisis BOOOOOOOOOOO) my nose is to the grindstone and i barely have time to get everything into the displays let alone documented and posted here in the virtual world..
And i AM sorry.. i loathe times when life takes over and you have little to no hiatus time to do the good stuff..
anyhoo.. here are some pics for our latest shoe and bag displays at the strand..
love the casual bow popping up in new places..
be prepared for a posting onslaught next week when ALL our xmas displays go in! YAY!

PIXELATOR MLC

PHEW! After two days (17 hours to be exact) of blu-taccing origami paper sheets to the walls of the window, we have the Autumn Winter 09 'pixelator' launch window installed in the MLC.. yay!

Akira Isogawa in the back window (lovely textures from the australian/japanese darling)

Donna Karan in the side window (what a dress!!! Thank you Donna!)

Lanvin in the front left window..(I think this is their best trench yet! amazing)

Dries Van Noten in the front right (as always, effortless to dress and combine)

and now I can be sick quietly with tonsillitis.. does everyone else also get sick when you need to be in peak performance??xx
